CrossFit begins with a belief in Fitness. The aim of CrossFit is to forge a broad, general and inclusive fitness. We have sought to build a program that will best prepare trainees for any physical contingency — not only for the unknown, but for the unknowable. After looking at all sport and physical tasks collectively, we asked what physical skills and adaptations would most universally lend themselves to performance advantage. Capacity culled from the intersection of all sports demands would quite logically lend itself well to all sport. In sum, our specialty is not specializing.

If fitness were defined in a meaningful and measurable way we’d say it is (increased work capacity across broad time and modal domains). CrossFit itself defined is constantly varied functional movements performed at relatively high intensity. CrossFit is also the community that spontaneously arises when people do these workouts together. In fact, the communal aspect of CrossFit is a key component of why it’s so effective.

When beginning a CrossFit program there is lots to learn. Olympic Lifting, Gymnastics, Kettle Bells, Rowing, Medicine Balls and much more. Typically a class will consist of stretching and mobility work followed by a few technique drills before we jump into the work out of the day (WOD). Technique work will never go away no matter how PRO you may be.

At FLO CrossFit instead of putting you through a long fundamentals course, we believe in learning a few new things every time you walk through the doors. That is why we have our beginner classes where we spend a little more time building your fundamentals to make sure you stay as safe as possible during the high intensity workout. You will see some of our current members cleaning up their skills in this class as well. The beginners class typically runs the same as all the other classes that day just at a slightly slower pace. These classes can be found on our schedule page highlighted in green and again at the bottom of this page.
